A family health journey that changed how we cook — and why we want every family to have the same chance.

Where it began

In 2013, my elder brother was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was 13 years old.

I won't pretend to explain everything that happened during those years — the hospitals, the treatments, the uncertainty. Any family that has gone through something like this knows what those days feel like.

But somewhere during that time, our family started looking closely at everything — what we ate, how we cooked, what was actually going into our bodies every day. And one of the first things we questioned was something we had never thought twice about before.

A small change with a big impact

We started reading about refined oils — how they're made, what they go through before reaching the bottle. The heating, the chemical processing, the loss of nutrients along the way.

It made us pause. Oil is in everything we cook. Every meal, every day, for years. If something so basic could be this processed, what was it really doing to our health over time?

So we made a change. We switched to cold pressed oil — the traditional way, pressed gently without heat or chemicals.

By 2015, my brother completed his treatment. Those two years taught our entire family something we'll never forget — how much the small daily choices, especially around food, truly matter for long-term health.

In 2020, we decided to turn what we had learned into something we could share with other families.

Happy Tummy started as a family business — built on something we had lived through ourselves, not something we read in a book or saw as a market opportunity.

And we knew that most families don't get the chance to learn this the hard way, like we did. We wanted to make that knowledge — and that choice — available to everyone, before they need a reason to look for it.
